Holidays and my Family

Holidays, generally, are the day when people stay at home or have a rest somewhere 'far from work'. Holiday days are devoted to some dramatic events or occasions - there are lots of them actually. My family likes Halloween most of all. On that day Dad drives us to the pumpkin fields to choose the most beautiful pumpkin. It is really a funny tradition to stroll between big and small pumpkins. However, we can gather some more vegetables on the field - corn, peas, beans, and the like. This year we are making a jackstraw from reeds, a pumpkin with eyes and a mouth with a candle within, and some other bad things to scare evil spirits or malignant demons. As far I am concerned, I am not afraid such monsters but it is amazing to invent tales and legends about them. So, I am wearing my favoritedress with green peas and sandals and, of course, a hat made from the leaves of salad - it is terrific! My little brother is dressed in a baby pea pot costume. As for mother and father, they are a king and a queen, as usual. My Dad has created a scenario for Halloween and we invited our aunts and uncles to see it. In addition, we called our neighbors to take part in our holiday. The guests were singing and dancing with us, playing games and joking, jumping and running around scaring bad spirits from our neighborhood. We even have a costume festival and my brother got the first prize. He recited poems very expressively and sang a song about peas. He was very happy to be the first - his pea pot costume made a great impression on everyone who was joining us during the holiday.We decided to keep this tradition for years for it was a good one for our good mood and health.
